- Rust was a logical first release set in that it introduces the entry of homo sapiens into multidimensional travel.
- Earth2124 is a planet that was devastated by over population and environmental disaster.
- In 2124 it is on a path towards recovery and colonization. Space provides limitless resources to rebuild human civilization.
- Rust2124 introduces many of the concepts I’ll be rolling out in the process of outlining the Science Fiction Theory thesis. The creation of an Omniverse complete with character classes, an endless number of themed dimensions to explore, and how to articles for writers and other creatives.
- Science Fiction Theory is a bit different in that it is oriented on the classical approach to science fiction. While SciFi has made great inroads to other forms of media it is literature where it’s foundations lie. I’m setting up an open source literary Omniverse model that will be free to use or adapt similar to a level 2 rollup but dedicated to the genre of fan made science fiction.
The NFT sets are aimed at a number of different goals.
- One is to create a perpetual capital foundation to allow an ongoing development and expansion.
- One early aspect of that is to raise funds to create a blockchain which is dedicated to the craft of science fiction be it literary, comic, manga, video, animation, or whatever the case may be.
- The establishment of ongoing curricula for population segments interested in taking up the creation of science fiction projects such as books and other mediums. My goal is to add as much quality content as possible such that we’ll have materials suited to a wide range of use applications.
- Initially it will be centralized and curated. I’m creating the content. I’m a one man show at present but if successful we’ll expand the team. We’ll also borrow ideas from other projects such as decentralized governance and begin to experiment with decentralized curation/governance.
- To that end the idea is to raise funds that will then be invested in a manner similar to other foundations but using decentralized finance in the place of the traditional capital/finance markets. Creating a model that will also lend support/stability to outside projects.
- In terms of who has control and who runs it by necessity it is just me right now. My objective is to be involved the remainder of my life (I’m currently 56 years old) whereupon Science Fiction Theory will become a foundation that sponsors literature and arts after I’m gone.
- The idea is to avoid drawing salaries until there is enough capital involved in staking to cover it from the rewards earned. Thus we’ll be investing in liquidity tranches weighted to the conservative end of the spectrum. We will also invest in various vetted projects through established launchpads. Thus the foundation may hold capital positions in a range of applications with a current focus on Level II EVMs but with an eye towards the emerging Bitcoin ecosystem.
- In terms of fan fiction that is one very important element that we’ll want to incorporate into future applications. Perhaps mirroring the DeFi concepts but instead of financial applications we’ll encourage development of apps that are oriented towards content creation. With a strong focus on literacy and learning. Thus we would like to encourage the creation of applications that are dedicated to those goals.
- As we launch Rust 2124 there will also be the first course content coming online. A sort of Science Fiction 101 series of articles published both on SciFiTheory.com and in applications like Mirror and Medium. Free materials to introduce ideas involved in getting started as a science fiction writer. With users and supporters free to take one of our NFTs and develop it into stories. The concept of “writing prompts” will be a prominent element in the early days.
